July 2019’s Full Moon Eclipse occurs in earthly fatherly Capricorn. The full moon occurs in the afternoon (5:38 PM EST) at 24’04°. The partial eclipse will occur at 5:31 PM EST. 

 In traditional astrology, Capricorn is governed by Saturn. Saturn represents the father in our natal chart. It represents the sometimes brutal and humbling experiences of self-responsibility, discipline, and commitment. Saturn delivers us our tough lessons that shape us into self-empowering grounded beings. We should look to Saturn for strength, endurance, and wisdom during life’s greatest lessons. 

When the Moon opposes the Sun in the signs of Capricorn and Cancer, the cosmic event we call the “Capricorn Full Moon” is born. From an emotional and feeling based perspective, it is a time where we may feel more limited and held back from experiencing our true potential and desire. From a practical and realist perspective, it is a time where we are more actively engaged in the activities and behaviors that produce a more well-rounded disciplined and financially healthy individual.    

July is also Eclipse season.Eclipse season is a series of aligned cosmic events. It may be easier to visualize an eclipse as an increase (influx) of heavenly energy available to us during an accelerated cosmic event. It helps shape existing plans and systems. This may influence intense feelings of newness, uncertainty, and good fortune.

 In the beginning of the month, the Solar Eclipse New Moon in Cancer planted new seeds in regards to our relationship and beliefs/traditions with family. Many of us faced themes that dealt with issues surrounding topics like: inner child work (also known as reparenting), creative self-expression, the divine feminine, and for many women, womb care. 

The Partial Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Capricorn occurring on the afternoon of July 16th  illuminates the responsibilities and commitments associated with the seeds that were planted during the Solar Eclipse New Moon on January 5th and July 2nd.

It's important to note during a full moon everything is exaggerated. We are more on edge and eager to react or respond subconsciously to stimuli. Avoid being absorbed into situations that feel outdated and inefficient. Focus on the facts. It’s best to be realistic and open as possible during this time. 

Saturn, Pluto, and The Nodes

July 2019’s Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Capricorn is one to remember. The moon will form six oppositions in one day. Two of those six oppositions involve Pluto and Saturn, both are retrograde in Capricorn. It will also form another opposition to the North Node in Cancer, Capricorn’s opposite. 

Oppositions are aspects that occur when two heavenly bodies are 180° apart and are in polar signs. Oppositions create tension and illumination. They represent the grand event, or the highest point of manifestation in a planetary cycle. 

When the Moon and Saturn oppose one another  (especially when Saturn is retrograde) it’s best that we demonstrate patience and flexibility in our emotional displays of self-discipline and maturity. During this time we may feel more detached, less likely to express ourselves “softly.” This is due to a series of external events that feel limiting and “punishing” in nature. However, it’s likely that in the long run we will find this time rewarding. It will teach us how to be strong and compassionate through practical action and consistency. It also teaches us that securing our future may not feel glorious all the time, but it’s well worth the effort in the long run. 

Pluto represents destruction. Pluto challenges us from the core of who we are and inspires us to always dig deeper. With Pluto being retrograde during the July 2019 full Moon Eclipse, we are in an inward state of introspection and self-transformation. Pluto represents metamorphosis. The Moon represents the unseen. This opposition creates tension between how we believe we should be evolving and the reality of how we actually are. This aspect forces us to come to terms with the inner transformation work required to ascend to the next level. It is a major aha moment for the soul. 

The Nodes represent our current and past life paths. The North Node is a symbol of our future; the path we are presently walking in at this time. It also represents what we call our “soul’s purpose,” and the traits and skills we should lean towards to fulfill this calling. 

The South Node is a symbol of our past life; the previous experiences, skills, and relationships that we carry with us from other timelines. It also represents what we call our “karmic ties.” 

With this Full Moon Eclipse opposing the North Node in Cancer, we may experience overwhelming feelings of familial responsibility and duty. This feeling can feel like a burden or a delay. We may feel like we are being held back or punished. But this is not the case. 

Instead of resisting our commitment to the long game, we must learn to see the beauty in trusting the process; we must learn to see the beauty in growing up. Success is not built overnight. Experience is not built overnight. All the masters of this world are a testimony of grit and consistency.

In order to have a strong foundation, we must be willing to communicate respectively in intense situations. It would be wise to use this energy as an open invitation to study your family traditions and behavioral patterns. If these traditions and patterns create breakdowns in communications and fellowship, reimagine them. Have the difficult conversations that open new doors. Do the reparenting and healing work that restores the next generation. Accept that we cannot move forward without change.
