On December 21, 2019, at 11:19 PM EST, the Sun will say farewell to Sagittarius and enter money-making Capricorn. In astrology, the Sun symbolizes our vitality, individuality, creative energy, and essential values. It brings insight into our urges to be and create. In our chart, it showcases our true essence, also known as the soul who desires to be expressed and recognized in the physical worlds.

Over the next four weeks, as the Sun builds in Capricorn, we should expect a deep draw to the material and physical realms. Capricorn is the 10th sign of the Zodiac. It is a cardinal earth sign who rules the 10th house of ambition, vocation, authority, and reputation. Earth signs rely heavily on their ability to understand and navigate the material planes. Money, business, construction, design, etc. are intuitive to Capricorn, even though it will have to build and master this energy over time. This innate ability gives Earth signs, Capricorn especially, the patience and self-discipline they are known for.

Capricorn expresses its earthly energy through a cardinal quality. Cardinal signs are always moving forward and starting something new. Capricorn expresses this as one who has impersonal determination to get things done. Capricorn will face many obstacles in its climb to success, wealth, status, and luxury. However, Capricorn is the symbol of the long-journey Home. No matter what it encounters, with determination, self-discipline, patience, and strong virtues, Capricorn will fulfill its mission. One thing to note is that this could also lead to strong feelings of inadequacy and lack of satisfaction. Cardinal signs like Aries, Libra, and Capricorn are always looking ahead. This makes it hard for them to feel “complete.”

When the Sun is in Capricorn, our life force energy is guided by a strong influence of self-control, practicality, and conservatism. The Sun in Capricorn encourages us to work hard and seek achievement in all that we do. Although this transit promotes financial improvement and recognition, it won’t be a walk in the park. For us to reach our full potential, the Sun encourages us to release the scattered mind of Sagittarius and concentrate all our focus on one goal. A huge portion of this comes from our ability to assume and embrace responsibility.

With Saturn being Capricorn’s planetary ruler, pivotal life lessons come with this transit. Especially with Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and the Solar Eclipse on the 26th all orbiting in Capricorn. Capricorn can be very pessimistic and cyclical, especially when it feels trapped. But this “blocked” space is only temporary. The beauty of this transit is how you deal with it. The universe wants you to win; the Goat will always climb, but you have to do your part by accepting responsibility and taking the first step towards building a solid fortress for your future.

With an abundance of cosmic energy in the sign of Capricorn here to help us end the decade, use this transit to align with your inner master. What life lessons have you learned over the past ten years? What lessons will you carry with you? What lessons will you leave behind? As we move deeper into this transit, we will experience a rise in conservatism, especially when Saturn and Pluto conjunct on January 12th. This may be one of the darkest and lightest times of our century (we can see that in our global political, financial, and environmental climates), but the awakening it is causing is well worth the discomfort.

A major theme of this transit is a call to assume leadership. We all have a voice, a specialty, a unique purpose, and this transit inspires us to come to terms with that. Embrace your gifts and take the position of authority in your community or organization. If you know you are not ready, find a mentor. It takes bravery to consciously follow, so you master the ability to lead.

Many of us will be driven towards independence and inner child work. A deep call to heal the fear of abandonment, poverty, scarcity, and dictatorship is pouring out at a root chakra level. What will you do when you are forced to love yourself? How will you learn to balance spontaneity and responsibility without driving yourself mad? What will it take for you to eliminate debt? To start your own business or increase your assets?

Others may perceive this as cold passion, someone who is caring but distant and detached. But this is just Capricorn’s defense mechanism. Underneath the hard layers is a soft, kind, funny, and loyal person who knows how to give unconditional love. Capricorn’s cautious demeanor encourages us to be intentional with how we spend and invest our money, but most importantly how to invest our energy and time. This analytical aspect makes it the best time to research and analyze your finances. Use this period to get organized and reduce chaos. The next ten years depends on it.

Things to do during Capricorn Season

  • Write down your responsibilities. Make it clear what is expected of you so you know what needs to go and what needs to stay.

  • Prepare for leadership. Is it time to lead? To learn? Be honest about your abilities and stop hiding behind your fears. Success is yours when you define and believe it.

  • Get organized. After Sagittarius season you could be feeling a mess. Hone in your focus. What is the first step to the next step? Make a plan to take it.

  • Clear out inadequate and scarcity-based thinking. Whether it be finances, relationships, self-doubt or trauma, anything, clear it at a subconscious level. We are being called to take charge of our decisions. You can’t do it living in the darkness of your mind and unconscious behaviors.

  • Eliminate debt. A huge lesson for the collective is to stop living in denial. Be honest about where you are. If you owe someone, pay them off. We must build our new foundation on clean soil.

  • Commit to something. Capricorn without vision is a waste of power. Capricorn is as humorous as it is serious. Utilize Capricorn’s sarcastic humor and goofiness to keep you grounded. Pick a goal and pursue it. Don’t stay in limbo. It’s time to act, even if that means just going with the flow. Flowing is still an action.

Horoscopes for All Signs:

Aries: Are you ready to level up, Aries? Well like it or not, here it comes. Business owners will either experience their most profitable period yet, or they could be burying their heads in the sand hoping that this period will be over. Regardless, all Aries will feel the pressure to rise. The Capricorn Sun focuses on your career and public image sector, especially while Venus is in Aquarius. You may have a deeper desire to share your expertise and to build long-term wealth. Accept every opportunity to learn, mentor, and share experiences with others, especially those who have walked this path before. It may be helpful to reach out to someone you trust and admire. Some Aries will most likely be investing in new platforms or avenues for generational wealth. Get an appraisal before you say yes.

Taurus: You are a natural traditionalist, Taurus, and the Sun in Capricorn supports this love of tradition, practicality, and material abundance. During this transit, you will most likely travel for work or get involved in a training class/workshop to increase your skillset and professional reputation. After the deep exploration of the Sun in Sagittarius, this transit encourages you to find new ways to old methods. If you are thinking about making a change in career or direction, do your research first. For you to feel comfortable and make the best decision, you need to know the facts and figures (and this is something you are comfortable with). It’s important to note that your desire to spend and invest in quality products will increase. So watch out for overspending and scarcity-based thinking. However, with Jupiter here to support the desires of the Sun, you have an opportunity to make big money if you play your cards right.

Gemini: Major life lessons are loading, Gemini and the illumination of the sun at the lowest point in your chart intensifies this. Being honest about your boundaries is the first step towards healing. If your environment doesn’t reflect your present state of consciousness, be real about how you got there. From this space of awareness, a solid foundation and partnership of mutuality can be formed. Authority issues for parents and children may surface, especially if you are currently residing in a shared space. How can you make this shared space work? Joint finances and resources will also increase during this transit, so watch out for and eliminate debt. However, accepting your financial state will actually open new doors for funding, investment, partnership, and financial advisement. Be open to receiving help while still practicing interdependence. You don’t have to walk through this new door alone.

Cancer: This transit comes in two waves for you, Cancer. The first wave is one of resentment and gratitude (weird combo, I know). You wanted more time with your family, children, and friends, and you got it. But with that, you initially feel a sacrifice for what you’ve been working hard for, your career. This feeling of building a foundation may come at the price of your long-term goals, but the truth is, it does not have to be this way. Much of the conflict and resentment you feel stems from your beliefs. You feel that you cannot do both, so you unconsciously create the reality that won’t allow it. This transit encourages you to transform your relationship to yourself and your goals. You have the emotional stability to overcome anything when you prioritize your own needs while still being there for others. But how you show up for others is where the magic happens. Give yourself permission to explore your goals while still being a parent, caregiver, or spouse. You don’t have to sacrifice either or; you need stronger, clearer, and more loving boundaries. Your need for recognition and validation also triggers this self-defeating mentality. Material wealth and abundance will not complete you, no matter how many goals you achieve or how much money/assets you acquire. The love/happiness/approval you seek can only be found in you.

Leo: Are you taking care of yourself, Leo? If yes, this transit will have you checking off your goals one by one, but don’t forget to rest, socialize, and stay consistent in your routine. Major changes are happening in your work and domestic life, and you need to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and financially grounded for it. For those Leos not taking care of themselves, you need to adjust your priorities and recommit to your health. Organizing your home, upgrading and performing routine maintenance on your equipment, and getting your finances under control is essential to your long-term success and mental health. With Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto, and Saturn all in Capricorn, your responsibilities increase as you evolve, and it may be a struggle to keep up. The best way to navigate through this transit is to be strategic about what you say yes and no to. A huge part of your soul will want to snatch every opportunity that comes your way but refrain. You need to maximize your output, not overwhelm it. Pick the most important tasks and short-term goals and save the rest for later. A deep desire to be recognized and praised at work can be inspiring but also conflictual when it drains your energy. Some may be stepping into entrepreneurship or amping up a side hustle. Whatever it is, keep it simple. Time will tell.

Virgo: The Capricorn Sun will highlight your passion, leisure, children/inner child, and heart sector. As much as you love to work and “get things done,” this transit encourages you to let go and relax. You are someone who is always working in your spare time, but instead of working, how can you create? How can you set down your responsibilities and engage in your passion and just relax? If you have children, they may become more responsible and independent; finally leaving home or learning to depend on themselves. If you are an adult, you may be stretching your wings and branching away from home; finally claiming or reclaiming the independence and growth you deserve/need. Inner child work may involve releasing strict parents or parenting techniques and visa Versa. It’s important to address any underlying issues surrounding your fear of leadership or expressing your creativity. If you are someone who doesn’t take anything seriously, this transit may reestablish the need to commit to a hobby, passion project, or side hustle. Doing what you love can be fun and profitable. Excellent transit to start preparing for parenthood.

Libra: Big lessons surrounding your family, home, and emotional foundation will dominate this transit, Libra. The Sun in Capricorn deepens your desire for commitment and material abundance on the home front. You could be making the first steps towards moving or purchasing a home, or you could be making the big leap. This transit is excellent for refurbishing/renovating your space. Just watch your budget. Capricorn and Libra equal expensive taste, but the Goat (Capricorn) will help you keep your budget in order. If you need help, don’t try to do it all yourself. Capricorn encourages convenience, so hire someone and save yourself the stress (this goes for all areas of your life). Some Libras will have trouble resting; it may be hard to just go with the flow but do the best you can. If work is an issue, find ways to minimize your tasks. Do you need to hire help? A part-time nanny? Find a solution that works for you. Libra parents will notice an increase in responsibilities and time-conflicts, especially if they work from home. Speaking of working from home, this is the best transit for home-based businesses and hospitality/customer service-based industries. If you’ve always wanted to start an Etsy, build a blog, or share your expertise on an authority level, this season encourages you to make the shift.

Scorpio: The biggest lesson you will learn during this transit is learning how to let go. When it comes to communication, writing, and just expressing yourself to others, the Sun in your 3rd house can sometimes hold you hostage. You sometimes care too much about your “reputation” that you miss the spontaneity and carefreeness of this transit. However, your intensity and Capricorn’s attention to design makes it a beautiful time to reframe your communication style and aesthetic. Your innate charm and magnetism will help you open doors to higher pay and positions, especially if this is something you’ve been doing for years and it’s finally catching up with you. This transit is excellent for focusing on one subject and pouring your all into it. You may come across reserved and detached, but this is because you're plotting your next move. Be strategic and organized, but don’t cut yourself off from just being in the moment. Many Scorpios will find that journalism, storytelling, and sharing their interests intrigues them. Childhood friends or mentors from youth could open new doors, so don’t be afraid to reach out to old acquaintances. Utilize your connections.

You have friends in high places. Use them.

Sagittarius: Money, money, money, that’s what's on your mind this Capricorn season, Sagittarius. After the excitement from your solar return starts to wane, take your time settling back into your groove. What has changed? Where are you now? More than likely you’re goals and objectives have shifted, and you’ll need to adjust your values and traditions to fit them. One of the biggest highlights of this transit is how you make your money. Most of you are in an upward spiral. Pluto and Saturn are encouraging you to take leadership in your community and practice consistency in your goals to build generational and long-term wealth. The projects you are working on now will support you deep into the future, so be intentional and strategic with your decisions. If you have a spending problem or overgenerous with your affairs, this transit helps you get your finances back in order. Those in a position to do so may become a financial advisor, career consultant, entrepreneur, or silent investor. Be open to commit to your financial health.

Capricorn: Happy Birthday, Capricorn. This season is all about you!! With the Sun creeping its way to the top of your chart (for Capricorn risings) and illuminating your natal sun or moon, you may feel a call to redefine your identity, public reputation, and short and long-range goals. Don’t be in such a rush to make a shift. With the majority of the cosmos orbiting in your sign, things are likely to change at whim for you. Instead, explore ways to surrender and attract the state of being you desire. Capricorn’s who have worked diligently and consistently will see an increase in income and public appearance. You may be called to share your expertise with others (especially when Venus is in Aquarius). If you are shy, show off a little. No matter your position, this is the best time to organize your finances. Investments that were made in the past will start to pay larger dividends now. New relationships may sprout up; be open to exploring them. If you feel the call to celebrate your birthday more quietly this year, that’s normal. As much as you want to feel sociable, this transit will have you more distant and introverted than usual. The key is learning how to embrace every season of your life, even the quiet ones.

Aquarius: Welcome to your resting season, Aquarius. Although the Sun in Capricorn highlights your hibernation sector, the beginning of this transit may conflict with Venus currently in your sign. However, the Capricorn Sun encourages you to flush out old self-limiting behaviors, beliefs, and patterns. You tend to put on a brave face. You will show a calm, centered, and brave exterior, but this transit exposes the cracks; it forces you to sit with the parts of you who need reinforcement, support, and boundaries. You need to create and honor healthy boundaries. If you don’t put a cap on your “giving,” you risk extreme burn out. In the beginning of this transit, you may feel a call to push against these boundaries, but do so with caution. If you must be the social butterfly, only engage with close friends who uplift and support your spiritual and intellectual growth. Stay far away from energy vampires. Your career will benefit from this transit in very subtle ways. You may feel a strong call to help others through silent healing practices and originality. Helping others to tap into their core is one of your many superpowers. Just remember to use the same power, energy, and self-discipline that you encourage in others on yourself. The end of this transit will summon you inward. When that call comes, answer.

Pisces: As much as you think you need people, Pisces, this transit will show you how much you can accomplish on your own. Not to say that you don’t need support, but you often discredit yourself for the creative hard worker you are and can become. If you’ve been longing to share your talents as a profession or for income, this transit encourages you to do so. This may come through a group or organization, but most likely through a very close friend or mentor whose helped you or guided you in the past. Dreams or goals become more practical now, and this helps you make the best decisions for the future. If you can, take a risk on a passion project. What would happen if you let go of the need to be perfect and embraced the moment? What friends do you know with power and authority? What groups and organizations are at your disposal? Capricorn encourages you to take responsibility for yourself first and then for others. From this space of independence, patience, and maturity comes the leadership and recognition you desire.
