Efficiency: New Moon in Virgo

“The Moon is always new when you are one one within” - Erykah Badu.

New moons open up heaven’s gates. They are the portal into the everlasting tunnel of light and dark. They give us the hope to face our future and the wisdom to face what is real, what is possible. As you may know the new Moon phase is the first phase of any lunar (Moon) cycle. The new Moon is a continuation of darkness, fertile soil, the womb. It is a period of fertilization, a time most beneficial to plant new seeds, intentions, habits, behaviors, and relationships with the realization that they need time to grow. Western culture perpetuates the lunar power of the moon through the endless slew of movies that interpret the moon’s power as a phenomenon of magic, luck, and uncontrollable power. We see this rhetoric in the form of werewolves and witches, western cultures way of speaking truth with a sprinkle of bull.

The September 2018 New Moon in Virgo continues its natal path through the Zodiac after a illuminating Leo New Moon and Solar Eclipse. This fiery time set our insides ablaze, creating earthquakes within our souls to break up the destruction of holding on to the past. Virgo comes along and adds matter, Earth, and form to the ashes of what was. Now we look at the truth, now we sift through what works and what doesn’t, what feels good and what doesn’t — now we move ahead.

But before we can move ahead full steam we must embrace the lessons of the path brought forth in Saturn, Pluto, and Mars Retrograde period. Over the past 5 months all three planets have experienced the potency of Capricorn’s diligence and desire for security. This dynamic created an intense summer full of delays, setbacks, conflicts, and opportunities to strengthen through belief, faith, and knowing. This is our moment to sit in the darkness and let it speak to us, let it guide us to the intentions and lessons that must blossom and birth the new life we are all creating and anxiously seeking.

Virgo is the 6th constellation of the Zodiac and it teaches us the patient sacrifice of responsibility and service. It awakens the nurturer in us all and encourages us to love our work, to be patient with our work, and to share, share, share our work without limitation. If you feel the desire to plan, organize, declutter, strategize, perfect or rework a situation then it’s best to follow that instinct. However, this is a beautiful new Moon to rest your working-boots and give thanks to the precession of your immeasurable growth. Use this new Moon, this day, this moment and now to sing praise to your family as Virgo is a family-oriented sign. Give breathe to your goals by allowing them to grow. When you plant your seed in the ground do you sit and stare at it for 72 hours straight waiting for it to grow? Give space to your dreams, give space to your hopes, let them do their thing and come back to you fuller, prosperous, and ready.

Affirmation: I am new. My life is free-flowing, efficient, aligned, and productive in and with Spirit.

What does this mean?

This means change. It means every aspect of your life is being transformed with efficiency, with labor, and with grace. Virgo’s sensuality ripples through each and every one of us cultivating a deeper desire for intimacy and connection. With our universal 11/2 year and month relationships take center stage in our physical and spiritual realms. Our focus on relationships forces us to evaluate who we work with, what labor means for us, and how this affects us on a global and collective scale.

Lessons of patience, contemplation, and observation draw us forward and ask us to be more present with ourselves and our families. Virgo’s family-oriented vibe stimulates the tensions present between Mars and Capricorn, Pluto and Capricorn, and Venus in Scorpio. If you are unfamiliar with how these energies affect you I suggest looking for each in your natal chart and observing how this affects you today.

How does this affect me?

Ever wondered why there was a holiday for rest, an action that should be habitual and not socially praised? On this short episode of The Newsletter Morgan explores the notion of labor day and its effects on present and future-day society. She poses the question of liberation through rest, a practice strengthed through her encounter with the Nap Ministry, an organization committed to the liberation of colored folks through rest. What is rest, Morgan asks. How do you engage with it? What role does it play in your relationship with Self and others? Planetary Aspects:

Venus enters Scorpio Sept. 9, 2018

Venus has been in Libra, the sign of love and Beauty since August 6. Today, September 9 on the same day as the Virgo New Moon Venus will enter the 8th constellation of the Zodiac, Scorpio. When Venus is in Scorpio our relationships acquire a layer of depth, intensity, and mysticism. Our resources become more shared, communal, and formed on the basis of self-leadership. Scorpio is a fixed water sign. It represents the feminine components of yin energy, the right side of the brain. Together Scorpio and Venus are possessive, passionate, and sometimes envious. Scorpio desires control and Venus needs connection. Venus will be in Scorpio until October 31st and we should use this long transit to uncover the deepest parts of ourself. How do we relate to others? What values do we  hold for our relationships? Our time? Our money?

Scorpio resembles the emotional aspect to our self-journey and empowerment. Scorpio asks us to be honest with our past life lessons, ancestral lineage, and shared possessions. Scorpio likes to get to the root of all things, knowledge, and wisdom. It desires knowing, depth, and sorcery. During Venus’s eight-week transit in Scorpio expect to get acquainted with diving deep. Use this period to transform your relationships to be more congruent and aligned with your highest hopes, dreams, values, and ideals of love, prosperity, and community. Imagine yourself as the leader. What would you do?

Mars enters Aquarius Sept 10, 2018.

Over the past 3 weeks Mars has been in the tenth constellation of the Zodiac, Capricorn. Mars is the planet of action, will, and desire. It supplements or inner urges and directs our expressions of energy outward and inward. When Mars is in Aquarius our motivation is liberation. We desire to be free, we desire to be heard, to explore, to transcend, and to make new. Aquarius is the 11th constellation of the Zodiac and represents our individual essence in correspondence with the whole. Mars highlights Aquarius’s desire to be free and express its innovations with radicalism, excitement, and wisdom. Although these two naturally get along well, this energy can be imbalanced if too much effort is placed on going against the grain rather than reframing it.

With the internal and external changes taking place within our individual and collective societies, we must take responsibility and action for the much needed changes looming implementation.

What structures, foundations, systems, processes, and belief systems have you internalized over the past 6 weeks that are ready to enter into their first, next, or final stage. This placement gives those initiatives a green light but we should continue to move with patience, efficiency, and precision especially while the Sun is still in strategic Virgo and Pluto still Retrograde in Capricorn. Over time our confidence holds and our resources multiply. When Pluto stations direct on September 30, 2018 we will embody the transformation within providing a harmonious flow without. Until then, use this time to take slow, patient, definitive steps towards the right direction.

First Quarter Moon in Sagittarius September 16, 2018 at 7:15 PM

The First Quarter Moon is the second major phase of the lunar cycle. It represents a period of balance, illumination and darkness and fullness and void. When the Moon is waxing and half-lit we are conscious of the path and it’s unfoldment — the seeds of the new moon are sprouting and a sense of direction overcomes us. The FQ Moon is a time of ripeness and productivity. We feel inspired and courageous motivating us to walk closer and implement the first phases of the dream. Although this period can be productive it is best to pace yourself and be realistic about what is to be expected and accomplished in this fluctuating time.

The September FQ Moon occurs in the 9th constellation of the Zodiac Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign whose polarity is yang, the masculine essence and left side of the brain. When the FQ Moon occurs in Sagittarius we are reminded of the deep lessons of last months Scorpio FQ Moon. Instead of imagining new ways to transform we are blessed with the optimism of Sagittarius to see them through. Our vision is expansive, non-traditional, and creative. With several planetary aspects surrounding Mercury in Virgo, the communication planet in its natural placement of Virgo inspires us to get strategic and practical with our missions. Sagittarius asks you what are you waiting for while Virgo’s fine sense of detail gives you the plan to actually see it through. This is go for it energy. Trust the universe’s  call to take a leap. Don’t get caught up in Mercury’s over analyzing ways. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect, you are perfect as you are, your idea is perfect as it is, give it time to evolve but put it out there, the time is now.
