Manifesting with the Moon: The Magic Behind Each Major Lunar Phase
When working with the Moon for manifestation it is important to note that the Moon moves in cycles very similar to that of a woman. In astrology there are four main lunar phases that we tend to work with: the New Moon, First Quarter Moon, Full Moon, and Last (third) Quarter Moon. Each moon phase occurs on a seven-day interval making a complete lunar cycle typically four-weeks.
The Moon in Astrology:
In astrology the Moon represents our innermost emotional nature and subconscious mind. In relation to our natal chart the moon symbolizes the Mother, or a nurturing force in our life.
Each moon phase is equipped with their own unique characteristics. They all work together to complete a unified whole.
The Moon typically changes signs every 2-3 days. The Moon is the fastest orbiting celestial body in our solar system (hence our fast changing moodiness as humans).
Waning and Waxing: the ebb and flow of the moon
Before we discuss each specific Moon phase in detail it is important to understand the difference between a waxing Moon and waning Moon.
When the moon is “waxing” it is growing brighter in illumination until the Full Moon is reached. The New Moon and First Quarter Moon are waxing phases. When the moon is waxing we are more excitable, nervous, and optimistic. The moon always waxes on the right, showing a dark shadow on the left. This is an introverted time.
When the moon is “waning” it is reducing (dimming) into the “darkness” until the New Moon is reached. The days after a Full Moon and Last Quarter Moon are waning phases. When the moon is waning we are more reserved, tired, and satisfied. The moon always wanes on the left, showing a dark shadow on the right. This is an extroverted time.
The Four Day rule:
In astrology, there is a common belief (one that I have observed and stand behind) that the effects of any planetary transit, aspect, or cosmic energy is at its most intense four days before and four days after the event is said to occur.
When manifesting or working with any celestial body or cosmic event this rule should be noted and applied.
New Moon: a time to dream (plant the seed)
Waxing phase: During this phase the illuminated side of the moon is obscured (facing the sun). During this time we can only see the dark half of the moon. This is why it is called the New or Dark moon. The New Moon is represented by the conjunction between the Sun and Moon.
The New Moon phase is a time of dreaming. This phase is the perfect time to plant a new seed that you would like to see blossom over the duration of the lunar cycle. This period illuminates the subconscious mind and brings new ideas to the surface. However, this is not a time to expect overnight success. This is a dark moon. Others are not as receptive to change and new ideas, but it is a perfect time to start a new cycle or project that will gain traction under the illumination of the Full Moon. Think of this as the wait and see Moon.
Things to do under the New Moon:
Be still and listen to your intuition. Receive any soul downloads with an open heart and mind.
Commit to starting a new cycle in your life.
Be optimistic but don’t be blind. Do not sign any contracts or jump into partnerships that sound over promising. Wait it out.
This is a test trial phase. If you want to experiment, this is the best time to do it. But don’t expect dramatic results. People tend to be in their own heads at this time. Your idea or launch may be easily misunderstood or disregarded. This same energy applies at the Last (Third) Quarter Moon
First Quarter Moon: a time of cultivation (water the seed)
Waxing phase: During this phase of the moon, the right side of the moon is illuminated and the left side of the moon is shadowed and appears dark. The First Quarter Moon is represented by the waxing square and Sextile between the Sun and Moon.
The First Quarter Moon phase is a time of putting the dream into motion. This phase is perfect for putting in the groundwork to making your new Moon intention a reality. More than likely whatever seed you planted will begin to gain traction under this phase, but the results and momentum will come from your own initiative. It’s important to understand that this phase promotes enthusiasm and competition. We naturally will start to attract energies that match what we are trying to create; don’t be intimidated or discouraged. Think of this attraction as Confirmation from the universe; either the idea is worth pursuing or its not. Take action if you want to see your hard work make an impact under the illumination of the Full Moon.
Things to do under the First Quarter Moon:
Make a move. If you want something this is the moon phase to pursue it actively.
Avoid comparing yourself to others. Stay focused on the goals.
If a relationship/partnership was started or expanded during the New Moon phase you will deal with obstacles now.
This is launch time. Put your idea out there.
Full Moon: a time to experience the dream (harvest the seed)
Waning phase: During this phase the illuminated side of the Moon is facing the Earth and the shadowed (dark) side of the Moon is facing space. In astrology, The Full Moon is represented as an opposition between the Sun and Moon.
The Full Moon phase is a time of completion and intensity. This phase exposes the efforts of our intentions and how others (the universe) receives them. For many the Full Moon phase can represent a heightened point of tension and restlessness. The Full Moon is the perfect time to expect answers and clarity. It’s important to understand that the Full Moon is an opposition formed with the Sun. Many will feel start this cycle feeling excited, but by the end will feel exhausted and worn out. Use this period to bring the effects of your intention to light.
Things to do under the Full Moon:
Ask for assistance on a situation that you need clarity on.
Try to stay calm and understand that things are coming into fruition. Be open to experience the fullness of this moment.
Be patient with others as we are all on edge and more emotional than usual.
Celebrate. No matter what does or doesn’t happen this cycle is perfect for gatherings and group activities.
Do not take everything so serious. Hidden secrets are coming out of the dark. Be honest and observe.
Last Quarter Moon: a time to analyze and reflect (prepare the soil for a new harvest)
Waning phase: During this phase of the moon, the left side of the moon is illuminated and the right side of the moon is shadowed and appears dark. The Last Quarter Moon is represented by the waning square and Sextile between the Sun and Moon.
The Last Quarter Moon phase is a time of reflection and release. Although this is a waning phase it is not one of stillness. The Last Quarter Moon is one of tying up loose ends, seeing what changes need to be made and actively making them. Whatever is finished now will expand during the next new Moon phase. During this Moon phase we may experience issues with money or debt. We are inspired to let go and release anything that weighs us down. The Last Quarter Moon phase is not the best time to launch anything new unless it is something that you announced during the First Quarter Moon phase. This is a time of cooperation and enjoyment. Think of this phase as graceful movement. Do not force.
Things to do under the Last Quarter Moon:
Wipe out any debt or withstanding bills. You won’t want the stress or burden during the New Moon.
Take time to reflect on the results of the last four weeks. What inspires you? What do you want to improve? What needs to be released?
Listen to the input of others. How does your New Moon intention make them feel? What changes do they suggest? Be open to compromise.
Make an announcement for something that you will launch during the next First Quarter or Full Moon. This is the perfect time to announce a new strategy or improvement that you noticed since the New Moon.
Clean out your home or living space. Seek inspiration. Prepare your soul, body, and mind to release and receive.
Full Moon in Scorpio - Horoscopes + Ritual
When associated with the Moon, Scorpio takes on a deeper emotional quality. It’s fixed water energy uncovers our innermost deep-seated truths. We may crave more intimacy and transparency. We may fall victim to insecurity which births secrecy and malice. Emotions fluctuate between excessive and zen. But within it all, the Moon and Scorpio become one.
Happy Scorpio Full Moon, My love! Get ready for a plunge!!
The history of Scorpio invokes the mythologies of death, mysticism, and psychology. Scorpio in one breath can accomplish what all the other signs combined cannot. However, this great strength comes at a great price. Scorpio’s Plutonian force is summoned from the depths of sorrow, misfortune, and spiritual awakening. In order for Scorpio to find its way through the underworld, it must first accept and channel the source and root cause of its feeling. Scorpio has to go where all the others fear. Scorpio is the sea which consumes the abyss of sacred knowledge and life experience. It is the well of life and death.
Scorpio takes on the Moon’s fluidity and empathy for others, and together they accomplish powerful things.
Today’s Full Moon at 5:12 PM EST invokes the deepest parts of Scorpio. The moon will reach its fullness at 27’38°. This energy pulls us under, forces us to face the parts of our lives and selves that must die and be born again. Something that we least expect rocks us during the waning period of the Full moon (4-12 days after the full moon) . During this period, we should expect big emotions, ranging from the highest joys to the lowest of sorrows. But what we shouldn’t expect and speculate is how this will affect us, what comes next, why it happened, or what it means. Instead of rationalizing our emotions, we must FEEL them.
The Full Moon should not be misjudged as Many of us have created personalities and stereotypes about how we should and will respond to certain situations, especially negative ones, but this only cuts us off from the present. Scorpio is fixed water, and we all know how unpredictable water is. This energy is slow moving and mysterious — there’s no escaping this one. We can’t out read it, smoke it, sex it, sleep it, eat it, whatever we are facing, we have to accept that it just is. Because when we lean into this energy, when we fall to our knees and bow, it SHIFTS!
But what we have to learn as creators is that this isn’t a magic trick; manifestation is not a calculated science. Just because we say it once or twice doesn’t make it fact. We have to feel this out, ride whatever wave we are on, and learn from it the best way we can.

A ritual for the 2019 Full Moon in Scorpio
A ritual for this moon is submerging in water. Go to a pool, a pond, the ocean, the bathtub, a warm shower — however you can submerge or shower your body with moving water. Before you submerge imagine that you are covered in your feelings; imagine that they were your skin. When you submerge your body, imagine that you are washing it all away, and when you rise you are clear, pure, washed free of all that you are carrying.
No matter what your belief system is, there is healing powers in the holiness of water. Today’s energy invites us to open to the purification of water and emotion. This week begins with a heavy start. With the moon being in Virgo in the beginning of the week, work schedules tend to increase. However, by Tuesday when the Moon enters Libra we will be more balanced and equipped to handle the immense emotional wave of energy that will greet us starting on Wednesday.
Starting on Wednesday, relationships that were rocky or on the edge of passion and envy will find their happy place or break up. For the past three weeks, Venus has been in fiery Aries. This transit influenced more passion, independence, and outspokenness in our relationships. However, with Venus entering Taurus on Wednesday, May 15th until June, our relationships will start to run smoother, without all the fussiness. But this doesn’t mean that Taurus and Venus always see eye-to-eye. Venus is simply more calm in Taurus. Instead of feeling immense pressure to pleasure or woo someone, Venus in Taurus would rather just be close friends, take all the edge off. Couples will find themselves more relaxed during this period. Singles will use the Opportunity to splurge on themselves, and maybe catch a fancy dinner solo downtown.
Mars is the action man of the Milky-Way Galaxy. Mars embodies and symbolizes our actions and behaviors. It represents our life force energy and the means that we use to express it. Mars has been in Gemini for almost two-months. On Wednesday, May 15th, Mars will enter Cancer until July. Mars in Cancer is emotion at its most actionable state. This transit highlights our innate sensitivity towards others, especially family. When Mars is in Cancer, our actions are more sensual, intuitive, and emotionally colored. We tend to make decisions based on how we want to feel, or the good we want to see in others. With Saturn and Pluto Rx in Capricorn, and with the True Node already in Cancer, this transit could pose some issues for a healthy work/life balance. This transit could also encourage hyper-sensitivity. Be conscious of your reactions and your decisions, be careful not to fly off the deep end.
On Saturday, May 18th at 5:12 PM EST the Full Moon will occur at 27’38° Scorpio. The Full Moon signifies a time of manifestation, experience, tension, illumination, and exposure. The May Full Moon signifies the midpoint of the Taurus and Scorpio Lunar Cycle. This energy establishes a sense of personal power and internal transformation. Scorpio is often associated with death and the occult. Scorpio rules the 8th house of personal power and shared resources. The Full Moon encourages us to embody the revelation that we seek in our own lives. This Full Moon asks us to step fully into the alignment of our highest selves. What would happen if we surrendered to our limitless abilities? What would happen if we followed through on the changes we know we need? This Full Moon shows you a glimpse of that, what it feels and looks like to stand tall in who you are. Working with others could be challenging, especially if finances are involved. If you hit a roadblock, take a step back and evaluate where you are. Often we forget that our most powerful tool is our imagination. If you can believe it, you can be it. Sometimes you just have to dig inside yourself and remember who you are.

As we settle into the energy left for us by last week’s Full Moon in Libra and Virgo, we are ushered into a flow that is somewhat jostling, pushing us to be a better version of ourselves. There are several major cosmic transitions that occur this week, adding to an energetic shift that happens every time the month changes.
On Tuesday afternoon, March 26, 2019, Venus, the planet of of love, Justice, and Beauty will leave independent and thought-provoking Aquarius and enter sensual and creative Pisces until April 20, 2019. Venus in Pisces is a magical transit for lovers, artists, and parents as it induces a feeling of soul connection to our work, our relationships, and our higher selves. However, it’s important to be mindful that Pisces can be very sensitive. The Aries Sun May provoke this in negative ways if we are not mindful of others feelings when we voice are bold opinions. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful time to connect with those you love behind the scenes. With Mercury now direct in its Retrograde shadow zone for most of this transit, it would be wise to use this time to tune in to each other, you won’t regret it.
Mercury has been Retrograde since March 5, 2019. Mercury will station direct on Thursday morning, March 28, 2019. However, Mercury will not leave its Retrograde shadow zone until April 17, 2019, when Mercury leaves Pisces and enters Aries until May 20, 2019. It’s important to understand certain delays may still need some working through. Dedication, patience, and focus is required to be successful during this transit, as Pisces is subjective to get lost sometimes in their mental and emotional illusions.
If you want to make the most out of this transit, you need one or two clear goals. If you find yourself project hopping, you need to refocus. Your mantra for the next few weeks is “I consciously move forward with clear, focused, and single-minded intention.” There is no room for reckless distractions or unconscious errors. Stay grounded!
On Sunday, March 31, 2019, Mars, the planet of action and focused energy, leaves Taurus and enters Gemini until May 15. For the last eight weeks, Mars in Taurus has inspired an energy of consistency, perseverance, and stubbornness to get things done. A strong motivating force during this transit has been our personal finances. Taurus rules the second house of personal assets and resources, inspiring us to make decisions in the best interest of our bank account and morals. However, with Mars moving into Gemini shortly after Midnight on Sunday, our actions are now governed by our need to expand and express mental thought. Many of us may suddenly find the courage to start putting a new idea or project out there, as Taurus’s dedication helped us shape it into form. However, be cautious as Mars in Gemini is somewhat scattered energy, it’s easy to get lost in thought and translation. Gemini is the first air sign of the Zodiac, and it has trouble sometimes staying focused on one thing for too long if it loses interest. The best way to use this energy is to focus on one or two things that you LOVE and are excited about doing, and follow them through to completion. Gemini is a social sign, so it would be beneficial to get other people involved. Share your ideas with people you trust and listen keenly to the advice you receive.

However, Mercury and (soon Venus) are still in your 12th house of closure and ending in Pisces, causing you to do more soul searching and behind-the-scenes emotional healing to get you prepared for the next season of your life. Use this week’s Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn to finish up any outstanding projects dealing with the public. You’ll want a clear slate for the New Moon in Aries next week.
Taurus
Taurus, with Mars on its last week in your 1st house of self in Taurus, you may be asking yourself how you got where you are and where you go from here. But enjoy this uncertainty. Something beautiful and unforeseen is on the horizon, and it requires you to trust your gut. On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Venus enters Pisces, your 11th house of friendships and groups, until April 17, 2019. This three week transit is prime time for establishing new and old connections that can help move you socially in the right direction. As much as you would like to believe you can go at it alone, you need others sometimes. Use this transit as a learning lesson. You can lean on people!
Gemini
Gemini, for a long time now you’ve felt like you were cast aside and set into the shadows. It’s been a long six months believing nobody was listening to you or hearing you, but now they are! With the Aries Sun now in your 11th house of groups and friends, all eyes are on YOU! International or large national corporations or organizations may suddenly want your personal expertise or opinion on a matter that is near and dear to your heart Gemini. Mars leaving your 12th house of Taurus on Saturday and entering your 1st house of self early Sunday morning is exactly what you need to move forward in a new direction. Just make sure that you are staying level-headed and not saying yes to every “amazing” opportunity that comes your way. Flush it out, make sure you aren’t being used or exposed beyond your level of reason or morale.
Cancer
Cancer, it’s been an emotional six weeks for you as Pisces lit up our 9th house of mental exploration and travel. You probably spent a lot of time cuddling up to people and thoughts that you love, while at the same time battling for your freedom. But don’t worry about what you had to let go of Cancer, now it’s time to focus on where you want to go! With the Aries Sun heating up your 10th house of career, it’s time to focus on your own personal objectives and career goals, especially when it comes to shining bright in the public eye! One thing you should watch for Cancer is your inflated ego. You tend to seesaw between being viciously self-confident, and desperately insecure, and this transit will do everything to challenge that polarity. Be honest about who you are when it comes to building your public image and reputation. The last thing you want to do is come off insecure, or worst yet, INSINCERE.
Leo
Leo, there’s so much you want to do and now seems like the perfect time to do it: but do you really know what you want, or are you still trying to figure it out? The first few weeks of Aries season can be somewhat brutal if your still seesawing between the “do it now” and “play it safe” mentality of Aries and Pisces. If you feel unsure, let it play out. Next week is more of a seeding time for you anyway. Mercury’s exit out of its reversed Retrograde motion on Thursday morning, March 28, 2019, will be pivotal for you as you can finally get a grasp of the information you need to handle your financial situation once and for all. This may come as a job opportunity, an influx of money that you should've received back in the day, or a significant investment from someone you love and trust, and who loves and believes in you. However it comes, accept it. You deserve something good.
Virgo
Virgo, the past few months have been big for you, and it seems like you’ve been on an uphill climb for weeks. But remember everything is uncertain, especially with the Aries Sun now in your 5th house of pleasure, fame, and creativity. Your emotions have the tendency to surprise you this week, just when you think you’ve got them under control. Listen to this sudden burst of hysteria or feelings of self-defeat (even optimism). You may be trying to talk yourself out of or into something you know just isn’t true. Areas of passion or hobby could bring you joy or depression. If you can’t make time for what you want to do, incorporate what you want to do into what you are already doing. It’s important to remember this week that everything has seasons, and unfortunately, every season does NOT have to be about you.
Libra
Libra, you’ve got big plans lingering in your mind. But be honest with yourself, is this what you really want or is this something you feel you have to do? Establishing the difference between guilt and shame, and joy and inspiration is pivotal for your physical and material success this month. With Mercury leaving its Retrograde station, and moving direct in your 6th house of Pisces, you could be in for a fresh start and project in terms of your career. Something you’ve been working on is gaining traction, and attention, and you need to be open to the success and material wealth this journey can bring. But with Venus meeting up with Mercury in your 6th house of Pisces on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, you need to be honest about what you can handle. Taking on multiple responsibilities may feel fun and challenging, but be practical with yourself. Do not bite off more than you can chew. In your case, less is more. Tread lightly!
Scorpio
Scorpio, you are in a season of building, and much of this is related to your family history, debts, and material wealth/investments. With the Aries sun beaming into your 8th house of joint partnerships and shared resources, you could be actively seeking ways to increase your financial independence through long-term planning. However, you need to slow down. The 8th house is your natural home, your natural ruler, therefore many of the themes occurring this month will strike a deep emotional response from you. Emotional outbursts and partner disagreements may increase this week. But don’t sweat it as any confrontation brings you closer to an agreement. Venus moving into Pisces and your 5th house on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, will help lighten the load emotionally as relationships tend to move towards the more sensual side, opening you up to a deeper soul connection. Give yourself permission to say what you feel. Every confession helps you shine brighter. Shine on!
Sagittarius
Sagittarius, there is much movement taking place in your life, even if you can’t see or feel it. Having faith is your destiny this week as you move deeper into the can do nature of the Aries Sun. Especially since it highlights your 5th house of pleasure, creativity, and fame. Over the next few weeks you may find yourself becoming more open to exploring old hobbies and creative projects that have been dormant for a while. A big reason for this delay was not having the “right” people to do it with, but this time you have the strength and vigor to go it alone. And to your surprise, your willingness to bite the bullet yourself attracts like minded souls to assist you in this venture. Mercury going direct in Pisces on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in your 4th house brings an emotional situation surrounding home and family into neutral waters. After weeks of feeling stuck and contemplating your next move, it may be time to finally cut the cord and move out into the world on your own. Establishing a clear sense of sanctuary and healing is essential to your growth and sustenance. Take a leap of faith and branch out on your own. You will never know if you never try.
Capricorn
Capricorn, you have a lot to learn this week when it comes to emotions and family life. Especially after last week’s conjunction between The Sun and Chiron in Aries in your 4th house. Emotions are something that you naturally keep to yourself. But how is that working for you? With Venus moving into Pisces on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, in your 3rd house of self- expression and self-improvement, you may need to re-evaluate how you handle what you feel. Especially when it comes to communicating with others in a relationship. Being honest about something that has been bothering you for weeks, no matter how hurtful it is, will help clear up any uncharted water in a close relationship. Give yourself permission to be vulnerable and share your sensuality. There is more important forms of communications than sex. Challenge yourself. It’s time that you break open.
Aquarius
Aquarius, Venus has transited your first house of self for three weeks now. This transit was pivotal in addressing unhealthy relationship patterns that helped you clarify your internal desires and needs. Venus will leave the comfort of your 1st house on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 and enter your 2nd house of Pisces until April 17, 2019. This shift awakens the value that you hold over your personal relationships and how you spend your money. You may naturally find yourself more indulgent and purchase things that you would often ignore. Pay attention to this need to splurge. Make sure that you are not acting on a fear of lack or scarcity. Mars also leaves your 4th house of Taurus and enters your 5th house of Gemini on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Mars will transit your 5th house of Gemini until May 15th. This shift may leave you feeling spontaneous and open minded. Follow the urge to create. It could lead you to some spectacular places.
Pisces
Pisces, even though the Sun is now in Aries, the spotlight is still shining bright on you! Mercury leaves its Retrograde station on Thursday, March 28th, 2019, giving you the green light to put some of those creative projects into action. Something you’ve been working on may get leaked this week, by you or someone else. And although this may not be intentional, it’s what you ultimately need to share this new expression of who you are and what you represent. On Tuesday, March 26 2019, Venus will leave your 12th house of closure and ending in Aquarius and enter your 1st house of Self in Pisces until April 17th. Whatever you let go of in terms of love, ideology, past ways of thinking and relating to others needs to be forgotten. The next three weeks are about you loving on you! Indulge in some good old fashion self-love techniques like long solitude walks in the park and hot baths in candlelight. If a new lover comes on the radar, don’t be so quick to push it away. Opening yourself up to a new boo, or a renewed connection, is a gift from the universe. Let the love flow in!
September 2018: Virgo New Moon and Horoscopes
The September 2018 New Moon in Virgo continues its natal path through the Zodiac after a illuminating Leo New Moon and Solar Eclipse. This fiery time set our insides ablaze, creating earthquakes within our souls to break up the destruction of holding on to the past. Virgo comes along and adds matter, Earth, and form to the ashes of what was. Now we look at the truth, now we sift through what works and what doesn’t, what feels good and what doesn’t — now we move ahead.
Efficiency: New Moon in Virgo
“The Moon is always new when you are one one within” - Erykah Badu.
New moons open up heaven’s gates. They are the portal into the everlasting tunnel of light and dark. They give us the hope to face our future and the wisdom to face what is real, what is possible. As you may know the new Moon phase is the first phase of any lunar (Moon) cycle. The new Moon is a continuation of darkness, fertile soil, the womb. It is a period of fertilization, a time most beneficial to plant new seeds, intentions, habits, behaviors, and relationships with the realization that they need time to grow. Western culture perpetuates the lunar power of the moon through the endless slew of movies that interpret the moon’s power as a phenomenon of magic, luck, and uncontrollable power. We see this rhetoric in the form of werewolves and witches, western cultures way of speaking truth with a sprinkle of bull.
But before we can move ahead full steam we must embrace the lessons of the path brought forth in Saturn, Pluto, and Mars Retrograde period. Over the past 5 months all three planets have experienced the potency of Capricorn’s diligence and desire for security. This dynamic created an intense summer full of delays, setbacks, conflicts, and opportunities to strengthen through belief, faith, and knowing. This is our moment to sit in the darkness and let it speak to us, let it guide us to the intentions and lessons that must blossom and birth the new life we are all creating and anxiously seeking.
Virgo is the 6th constellation of the Zodiac and it teaches us the patient sacrifice of responsibility and service. It awakens the nurturer in us all and encourages us to love our work, to be patient with our work, and to share, share, share our work without limitation. If you feel the desire to plan, organize, declutter, strategize, perfect or rework a situation then it’s best to follow that instinct. However, this is a beautiful new Moon to rest your working-boots and give thanks to the precession of your immeasurable growth. Use this new Moon, this day, this moment and now to sing praise to your family as Virgo is a family-oriented sign. Give breathe to your goals by allowing them to grow. When you plant your seed in the ground do you sit and stare at it for 72 hours straight waiting for it to grow? Give space to your dreams, give space to your hopes, let them do their thing and come back to you fuller, prosperous, and ready.
Affirmation: I am new. My life is free-flowing, efficient, aligned, and productive in and with Spirit.
What does this mean?
This means change. It means every aspect of your life is being transformed with efficiency, with labor, and with grace. Virgo’s sensuality ripples through each and every one of us cultivating a deeper desire for intimacy and connection. With our universal 11/2 year and month relationships take center stage in our physical and spiritual realms. Our focus on relationships forces us to evaluate who we work with, what labor means for us, and how this affects us on a global and collective scale.
Lessons of patience, contemplation, and observation draw us forward and ask us to be more present with ourselves and our families. Virgo’s family-oriented vibe stimulates the tensions present between Mars and Capricorn, Pluto and Capricorn, and Venus in Scorpio. If you are unfamiliar with how these energies affect you I suggest looking for each in your natal chart and observing how this affects you today.
How does this affect me?
Planetary Aspects:
Venus enters Scorpio Sept. 9, 2018
Venus has been in Libra, the sign of love and Beauty since August 6. Today, September 9 on the same day as the Virgo New Moon Venus will enter the 8th constellation of the Zodiac, Scorpio. When Venus is in Scorpio our relationships acquire a layer of depth, intensity, and mysticism. Our resources become more shared, communal, and formed on the basis of self-leadership. Scorpio is a fixed water sign. It represents the feminine components of yin energy, the right side of the brain. Together Scorpio and Venus are possessive, passionate, and sometimes envious. Scorpio desires control and Venus needs connection. Venus will be in Scorpio until October 31st and we should use this long transit to uncover the deepest parts of ourself. How do we relate to others? What values do we hold for our relationships? Our time? Our money?
Scorpio resembles the emotional aspect to our self-journey and empowerment. Scorpio asks us to be honest with our past life lessons, ancestral lineage, and shared possessions. Scorpio likes to get to the root of all things, knowledge, and wisdom. It desires knowing, depth, and sorcery. During Venus’s eight-week transit in Scorpio expect to get acquainted with diving deep. Use this period to transform your relationships to be more congruent and aligned with your highest hopes, dreams, values, and ideals of love, prosperity, and community. Imagine yourself as the leader. What would you do?
Mars enters Aquarius Sept 10, 2018.
Over the past 3 weeks Mars has been in the tenth constellation of the Zodiac, Capricorn. Mars is the planet of action, will, and desire. It supplements or inner urges and directs our expressions of energy outward and inward. When Mars is in Aquarius our motivation is liberation. We desire to be free, we desire to be heard, to explore, to transcend, and to make new. Aquarius is the 11th constellation of the Zodiac and represents our individual essence in correspondence with the whole. Mars highlights Aquarius’s desire to be free and express its innovations with radicalism, excitement, and wisdom. Although these two naturally get along well, this energy can be imbalanced if too much effort is placed on going against the grain rather than reframing it.
With the internal and external changes taking place within our individual and collective societies, we must take responsibility and action for the much needed changes looming implementation.
What structures, foundations, systems, processes, and belief systems have you internalized over the past 6 weeks that are ready to enter into their first, next, or final stage. This placement gives those initiatives a green light but we should continue to move with patience, efficiency, and precision especially while the Sun is still in strategic Virgo and Pluto still Retrograde in Capricorn. Over time our confidence holds and our resources multiply. When Pluto stations direct on September 30, 2018 we will embody the transformation within providing a harmonious flow without. Until then, use this time to take slow, patient, definitive steps towards the right direction.
First Quarter Moon in Sagittarius September 16, 2018 at 7:15 PM
The First Quarter Moon is the second major phase of the lunar cycle. It represents a period of balance, illumination and darkness and fullness and void. When the Moon is waxing and half-lit we are conscious of the path and it’s unfoldment — the seeds of the new moon are sprouting and a sense of direction overcomes us. The FQ Moon is a time of ripeness and productivity. We feel inspired and courageous motivating us to walk closer and implement the first phases of the dream. Although this period can be productive it is best to pace yourself and be realistic about what is to be expected and accomplished in this fluctuating time.
The September FQ Moon occurs in the 9th constellation of the Zodiac Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign whose polarity is yang, the masculine essence and left side of the brain. When the FQ Moon occurs in Sagittarius we are reminded of the deep lessons of last months Scorpio FQ Moon. Instead of imagining new ways to transform we are blessed with the optimism of Sagittarius to see them through. Our vision is expansive, non-traditional, and creative. With several planetary aspects surrounding Mercury in Virgo, the communication planet in its natural placement of Virgo inspires us to get strategic and practical with our missions. Sagittarius asks you what are you waiting for while Virgo’s fine sense of detail gives you the plan to actually see it through. This is go for it energy. Trust the universe’s call to take a leap. Don’t get caught up in Mercury’s over analyzing ways. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect, you are perfect as you are, your idea is perfect as it is, give it time to evolve but put it out there, the time is now.
August 2018: Scorpio First Quarter Moon and Cleansing Water Ceremony
On August 18, 2018, the moon is half full. It is waxing and growing brighter in illumination.
The First Quarter Moon occurs in misty Scorpio. This FQM is deep, intense, and sensual. It tickles our most sensitive soft spots so that we can peacefully move through them to build a sturdy foundation on solid ground. Relationships and shared resources are highlighted under this waxing moon. It foreshadows sporadic group ventures, testy joint investments, and outlandish community healing.
"When cleansing we must first empty. When manifesting we must stand open." - ML
On August 18, 2018, the moon is half full. It is waxing and growing brighter in illumination. When the moon is waxing into fullness we are most aware of our desires and needs to grow. We see the future just as we begin to receive open doors on how to get there. The First Quarter Moon phase is the most fertile time of the lunar cycle. It is the moment where we work in our budding gardens to reap the abundance of last quarter moon's harvest.
Creative projects that involve shared resources, community facilities, water, mysticism, occult knowledge, and deep spiritual practice will be highlighted and favored. Scorpio is often symbolized as a grieving or over-attached mother. Mother related issues or experiences may surface during this time.
During this period it is best to connect with your emotional and spiritual body. Mediation, yoga, acupuncture, massage, blood cleansing, detox, and foot baths are very useful and received well at this time.
If possible be near the ocean or the sea. Scorpio is governed by Pluto, the planet of death and transformation. This period is excellent for baptism and healing ceremonies.
Avoid leaving little children unattended near water. Drowning is symbolic of this sign.
Water Ceremony for The First Quarter Moon in Scorpio:
In ceremony, we charge our water because it is innately neutral. Water serves as a carrier. The binding agent that reacts with our own personal energies, intentions, thoughts, and feelings. It is the substance of what we are and what we come from. Water is our blood. Water is our purity. It is our peace. In metaphysics, water symbolizes all that is feminine, yin, and divine. It represents our feelings, emotions, and sensuality, the inner complexes that create our external realities.
In this ceremony, the water cleanses your skin and removes all impurities, negativity, and destructive thought patterns. It breaks down and decomposes what is already dead and ill-serving. It purifies us and leaves us new.
To add more intensity to your ceremony imagine that all negativity and deadweight is draining from your body and consciousness as you watch the healing water empty into the drain.
To begin: go into your higher state and ground your center. Take a charged bath or shower with the intention of washing all impurities. If possible, use anatural oil based soapor salt. Imagine that you are being cleansed and renewed for illumination on next week's full moon in Pisces. Becuase Scorpio is a sign of depth and eroticism, it may be helpful to set the mood with candles, incense, crystals, ancestral artifacts, lights, and darkness. **** if you plan on drinking this potion please store in refrigerator or cooler.
Once you have taken your bath, charge a mason jar or glass pitcher of balanced water with blood cleansing herbs, roots, and oils. For this ceremony herbs such as nettle leaf, burdock root, dandelion root, spirulina, and raspberry leaf work well. You will charge this water now for ingestion next week. Place all your hopes, intentions, wishes, dreams, manifestations, fantasies, and desires into the water. Unleash all you tell yourself is impossible. Let it wash its way to the surface. Once you are done label and seal the container. Store in dark resting place until next week. Do not open.
If you would like, here is an affirmation poem charged specifically for this cleansing moon:
(saying this aloud 3x with confidence is extremely powerful -- let your voice hear you)
I am open.
I accept all that waves, flows, and ebbs.
I dance in the wind of the Seas.
I amlove.
I am free.
My life is eternally and effortlessly peace.
In all transgressions I am.
In all moments I will.
In all experiences I be.
I accept the Mother within.
I nurture myself.
I Mother myself.
I heal all traumas of the womb attached to me.
I am one with Water.
Water is in me.
I surrender to the Waves.
I am in flow.
Flow is in Me.
I release the Old.
I am eternally free.
Planetary Aspects:
Mercury Retrograde in Leo Sextiles Venus in Libra at 11 degrees.
Communication is harmonious and polite. A period of peace and insight. Directness or beating around the bush may create rifts but nothing to be taken too heart. A time of great conversation and companionship. A warm loving social environment. Business ventures and creative projectes surrounding the arts, home, and design get a much deserved boost. A great time to take advantage of small talk and bright minds.
Moon in Scorpio Sextiles Mars Retrograde in Capricorn at 29 degrees.
A time of deep passion and self-expression. A tendency to desire control and possesion over external measures and emotions. Deep displays of maturity, love, and affection are shown during this time. Capricorn's earthly sensuality is deepened by Scorpio's desire for erotica and stimulation. Physical energy may be necessary to relieve deep rooted stress. A time for patience, pracitlaity and revelational feelings.
Leo New Moon and Partial Solar Eclipse 2018: Affirmations and Ritual to Ease into Change.
A New Moon starts the cycle of renewal. It ignites the eternal flame of emotion, subconscious, and feeling. The moon's newness is dark soil. It is the fertilization that nourishes our seeds through the storm. It is cold. It is fresh. It is raw and unnerving. The August 2018 Lion New Moon in Leo is no different. It is charged with the illumination of the sun's hidden rays as it casts the last Leo solar eclipse of 2018.
A New Moon starts the cycle of renewal. It ignites the eternal flame of emotion, subconscious, and feeling. The moon's newness is dark soil. On August 11, 2018, in the wee early moments of dawn, the moon rises in the darkness again. Invisible in her approach but almighty in her roar, our insides are purified from their sleeping states forever.
You can expect deep changes with this lunar phase. Slow, insightful, deliberate, and decaying transition. The kind of transformation that makes you cut all your hair off and grow it back three months later. The kind of shift that alters everything and nothing all in one swoop.
With rebellious Uranus now Retrograde in stubborn Taurus until November, our internal landscapes are sticky and chaotic with colorful greys. Experiences during this transit can feel boring and dull, but still chaotic and unnerving to say the least.
Raging projections of submerged fears or worries may surface. Try not to cast or shun your shadows. Greet them. Invite them in. Make them tea and coffee. Invite them to know you. To reveal themselves deeply to you.
Understanding our hurt leads to self-confidence that cannot be tethered by fear. It is the kind of strength that surpasses all physical understanding and shame. It is internalized. Deep. Buried and tucked away like a newborn baby suckling on its mother's full tender breast.
No matter how you feel during this new moon, your feelings are raw, valid, and glistening. Listen to them. Honor them. Let go of what no longer feels good. Release what now brings you suffering. You do not have to suffer. Banish the belief that love is suffering. Love is stretching. It expands, challenges, and sustains but it does not bring malice. Be strong and brave enough to face the difference. Even it is your own pain.
"Being who you are is not a chore, it is not work. It is commitment."
A Ritual For the 2018 New Moon and Solar Eclipse:
First: Write down your one thing that just has to go today. It can be very specific or extremely broad. Think of this as your personal nemesis. What rules your Life? What oozes into the corners and overshadows your glow? Is it fear, scarcity, a person, an experience, a place, a thing? Call it forward and bravely write it down. Writing it down allows you to bring it from the higher realm of consciousness into the material world of the physical.
Once you've taken a second to write it down, ground yourself. Close your eyes and visualize this thing. Visualize the essence (the energy) of what it is that you are vanishing. If it is a feeling invite the feeling to take over you. If examples of this feeling pop up, try to ignore it. Allow the feeling to feel itself. You are the observer, not the feeling.
After you have taken a second to ground, start your practice by asking yourself some simple questions.
Ask yourself questions like:
How does ____ effect me?
Why does ____effect me?
What triggers ____?
How can I directly address _____?
What will happen if I address _____?
Once you've got a clear picture and some answered questions either written down or in your mind, write down and say the following three lines out loud.
I accept ________ as my truth.
I embrace _________ as my truth.
I banish ________ with love.
Say and write these three lines with power and courage and strength. Give impact to your words. Breathe Life and healing onto the paper. Don't be afraid to let this go. Don't be afraid to let go of this FOREVER. Humans instinctually have this intrinsic fear of eternity but it's the truth behind what we are. We areeternal flames. We do shine brightly forever. So why not banish something for eternity? It is possible. You do have the power to make a decision and stick to it. To never react to its triggers again. It takes honesty, love, and repetition. It takes trust, evolution, and transcendence. But it does happen. It can happen. It will.
If you're ever feeling stuck or mislead by ANYTHING, repeat this simple two-second ritual over and over again until it becomes automatic like breathing.
You can do this at any time, anywhere. It can be as simple as 123 or you can be more elaborate and add candles, a circle, or an altar.
Monitor your thoughts and emotions over the next three to four days when the Moon is still dark and fertilizing. Take stock of what keeps coming up for purification. Answer any inner promptings or calls that you receive for change. Trust the sacredness of this dark time. There is so much love here when you accept it.
